South Africa are 140/4 and 40 ahead going into day four of the Cape Town decider. India look for 4–0 in Auckland today, and spinners ruled the last day of Ranji Trophy round three: 8/81 for Tanush Kotian and 8/17 for Parth Bhut.

1. Cape Town decider: South Africa 140/4, lead by 40
Australia were all out for 429 in the third Test at Newlands, a first-innings lead of 100 over South Africa's 329. By the close of day three on 29 October, South Africa had cleared that and reached 140/4, 40 ahead with six wickets left. Marques Ackerman top-scored with 62; in our 26 October snapshot he had batted once in Tests, for 6. Nathan Lyon removed captain Temba Bavuma late in the day. The series is level 1–1 after Australia's 214-run win in Durban and South Africa's innings win in Gqeberha, so day four today decides a lot.
2. India v New Zealand, 4th T20I today in Auckland
India lead the five-match series 3–0 and play the fourth game in Auckland today, starting at 12:30 PM IST. With the series won, the spinners could get a game: Kuldeep Yadav has 98 T20I wickets at an average of 14.20 in our 26 October snapshot, and Varun Chakaravarthy has 75 at 17.34. Neither played the first two games (1st T20I, 2nd T20I). New Zealand have lost Lockie Ferguson (77 T20I wickets) for the rest of the series with a calf injury.
3. Ranji Trophy: Tanush Kotian's 8/81 gives Mumbai a 10-wicket win
Following on, Haryana were bowled out for 256 at the BKC as off-spinner Tanush Kotian took 8/81. Mumbai (430) needed 97 and got there in 10.4 overs without losing a wicket, Angkrish Raghuvanshi finishing on 67*. Mumbai take 7 points with the bonus.
4. Parth Bhut's 8/17 wins it for Saurashtra by an innings
Left-arm spinner Parth Bhut took 8/17 in Rajkot as Assam folded for 94 in 44 overs. Saurashtra (387) beat Assam (281 and 94) by an innings and 12 runs. They were 65/7 overnight, so Bhut finished the job on the final morning. No bowler in the round returned better figures.
5. Round three results: three more innings wins
Karnataka beat Tripura by an innings and 116 runs in Mysuru, their first win of the season, with Shreyas Gopal taking 5/36. Bengal beat Kerala by 287 runs, Pradipta Pramanik taking 6/51 as Kerala made 120. Vidarbha beat Goa by an innings and 27 runs. Rain washed out the last two days in Ranchi, where Delhi (515/5 declared) drew with Jharkhand (131/4). Tripura will be without Hanuma Vihari this season for personal reasons.

News items come from the day's cricket reports. Scores appear only when two independent reports agree, or a report matches Crickrida's data; items reported by only one source are given without figures. The 29 October results are not yet in our scorecards, which run to 25 October, and the third T20I in Wellington is not in them either. The table shows Crickrida's 26 October career snapshot, before the third Test in Cape Town; Starc and Lyon have taken wickets in this match since. Australia's first-innings lead of 100 is worked out from the two totals.
