India women opened their ODI series with a nine-wicket win over Zimbabwe in Vadodara, with Pratika Rawal unbeaten on 100. The men play the second T20I in Christchurch today at 12:30 PM IST, 1–0 up, but without Ishan Kishan. Also: Shree Charani's best ODI figures, Axar Patel's economy rate, and a new junior selection panel.

1. Rawal and Shafali chase 198 in 27.1 overs
Zimbabwe chose to bat and were bowled out for 197 in 49.5 overs. India made 200/1 in 27.1 overs and won by nine wickets, with 137 balls left. Pratika Rawal made 100 not out and was player of the match. It is her third ODI hundred; she had two, and a best of 154, in our 30 September snapshot. Shafali Verma, moved to No. 3 because Jemimah Rodrigues is injured, made 64 not out. Smriti Mandhana, captain, was the only wicket. India lead the three-match series 1–0; the second ODI is on Sunday, again in Vadodara.
2. Charani's 4/23 is her best in ODIs
Shree Charani took 4/23. In Crickrida's 30 September snapshot her best was 3/41, from 27 wickets in 21 ODIs. For Zimbabwe, Beloved Biza top-scored with 62, her fourth ODI fifty (she had three in our snapshot, best 73).
3. Second T20I today: Kishan out, Sooryavanshi likely in
India lead New Zealand 1–0 after chasing 226 on Thursday. The second T20I starts at 12:30 PM IST in Christchurch. Ishan Kishan is ruled out with a low-grade right adductor strain, and Kumar Kushagra has joined the squad as cover. That opens a batting spot that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is expected to fill, though it is not confirmed. In our snapshot he has 193 runs from six T20Is at a strike rate of 189.21. See men's T20I highest chases.
4. India's bowling is the worry, and Axar's numbers show it
New Zealand made 225/4 in the opener, and India's fifth and sixth bowling options are under scrutiny. In Crickrida's match archive, Axar Patel has conceded 383 runs off 244 balls in 12 T20I bowling innings between the World Cup final and 11 October: 9.42 an over, against 7.49 across his career. That count stops before this series, because our archive lags a few days.
5. Parvinder Awana heads the new junior selection panel
Former India fast bowler Parvinder Awana is chairman of the newly formed junior selection committee, with Krishna Das, Rakesh Patel and N. Arjun Yadav. In Crickrida's data Awana played two T20Is for India, both in 2012.
Context: India's ODI top order
In our 30 September snapshot, Rawal averages 47.56 in ODIs, close to Mandhana's 47.88 from far fewer games. Shafali's best ODI score is still 87. See women's ODI most runs and the Mandhana v Harmanpreet comparison.
